Printing in Koha

There are 3 different Firefox shortcuts that can be used with Koha:

  • Koha Receipts
  • Koha Labels
  • Firefox

Please read the Koha Printing Guidelines to determine which shortcut to use.

 

Printing Receipts from Checkout

Be sure to launch Firefox using the "Koha Receipts" shortcut for printing to a receipt printer

  1. Check out items to patron
  2. Click on Print->Print Slip
  3. When the window pops up
    1. Press Ctrl-P to print
    2. press Enter to confirm

 

Printing Workslips (Hold Slips) from Checkin

Be sure to launch Firefox using the "Koha Receipts" shortcut for printing to a receipt printer

  1. Check item in
  2. If it is an item that has a hold for a patron at your library, you'll get a message to that effect
  3. Press the "Print Slip & Confirm" button
  4. When the window pops up
    1. Press Ctrl-P to print
    2. Press Enter to confirm

 

Printing a list of a patron's items

Be sure to launch Firefox using the "Firefox" shortcut for printing to a regular printer (if you print this list to the receipt printer, it will be too tiny for most people to read!)

  1. From a patron's record, click on Print->Print Page
    1. Select the appropriate printer
    2. Press OK to confirm

 

Printing the Holds Queue ("Pick List")

Be sure to launch Firefox using the "Firefox" shortcut for printing to a regular printer

TEMPORARY WORKAROUND:

Currently, printing the Holds Queue Report in Firefox does not work correctly.  There is a temporary workaround:

  • Open IE
  • Go to http://scls-staff.kohalibrary.com
  • Log in to Koha and run the Holds Queue Report  (Instructions.  Video Tutorial.)
  • Log out and CLOSE IE.
  • Resume Koha work in Firefox.
    • IMPORTANT:  When you print this report in IE, you cannot hide the columns of patron information. 
    • If you're giving the report to volunteers to search, you can cut the column of patron info out and tape the report back together (sans patron info)
    • If you don't remove the patron info, you should shred the report when you are finished. 

OTHER WORKAROUND OPTIONS (Thanks, MID!):

  • If you are having trouble printing in IE using the workaround instructions above, try one of these options:
    • Instead, select "Range" and enter the full range of pages  (ex. for a 14 page report, under "Page Range" select "Pages" and enter "1-14")
    • OR -  highlight the contents of the report.  When you print, under "Page Range" choose "Selection".  (<-- this may also work in Firefox.  You'll have to test it)
